India Ranks 176th in Environment Performance Index (EPI) 2026




India has been ranked 176th out of 177 countries in the Environment Performance Index (EPI) 2026, making it the second-lowest ranked country globally. India received an overall score of 22.46 out of 100.

Only Laos ranked lower at 177th with a score of 21.78, while Estonia retained the top position with a score of 74.79.

Among South Asian nations, India ranked last, behind Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Maldives, and Bangladesh.
