Keeping in view the Coronavirus crisis, the Indian Government is undertaking a massive campaign to bring back the stranded Indians in various parts of the world.
The Union Home Ministry had announced the decision to allow thousands of Stranded Indians worldwide to be repatriated on commercial planes and naval vessels in a phased manner starting on 7 May.

In the first phase, which began on May 7, more than 60 "Non-Scheduled", "Commercial Flights" will operate to bring back about 15,000 people from around 12 countries.
In the second phase, in the 3rd week of May, the Vande Bharat Mission is expected to involve European Countries.

Distressed civilians will be returned to commercial aircraft and naval vessels based on lists prepared by the embassies of India.
The Indian Navy has sent four naval ships as part of the first phase of the Vande Bharat Mission. The Indian Navy's INS Jalashwa and INS Magar are working to bring back Indian civilians from the Maldives, while INS Shardul and INS Airavat left for the United Arab Emirates. Navy names its evacuation effort.

The Navy said that suitable provision has been made for evacuation of ships and people will be provided with basic facilities and medical facilities during the sea route. "Given the unique challenges associated with COVID-19, stringent protocols have also been set."
